Anti-Fascist Network

The English Volunteer Force (EVF), a small EDL splinter group who thought it would be a whizzo idea to name themselves after Loyalist terrorists are holding a march on Parliament this Saturday 15th.

The EVF are a pretty small outfit. However, the event is given some added significance in that it is the first outing for the latest effort to “unite the right” – the United British Patriots. So as well as the EVF, we can expect members of Casuals United, the South East Alliance, the Infidels etc as the UBP tries to supplant the EDL as the primary right wing force on the streets.

North London Anti-Fascists have made a call-out to oppose them and will be holding a counter-mobilisation.

“We are pleased to announce that on March 15th 2014 the London community will be opposing the far right English Volunteer Force (EVF). The plan is to meet in Trafalgar Square at the top of the steps in front of the National Gallery at 12:30 sharp.

This is not just about Islamophobia, this is about Racism, Homophobia, Sexism and oppression in all its forms. Fighting fascism is fundamentally a civil rights movement and a human rights movement.

VISUALLY:- The idea is to bring lots of colourful banners, signs and flags to make sure the demo is as visual as possible. We ask you to bring Antifascist flags or pride flags, feminist flags, peace flags, black flags. Bring banners promoting diversity, bring signs promoting unity. (No nationalist flags of any kind, only those that promote inclusivity)

NOISE:- We have a PA/sound system and we ask you to bring drums/ instruments, whistles, megaphones and any other noise making equipment. (Let’s make sure they can hear us).

Please do all you can to spread the word and help promote this event. This event is a week before the European day of action against Racism. Lets make sure we let the rest of Europe know that when fascists take to our streets, our reaction is not something to be taken lightly.

Should be an interesting day…

It looks like it should be an interesting day as in addition to the EVF march on Parliament and the North London Anti-Fascists and UAF opposition, there is also rumoured to be a BNP “White Man’s March” somewhere in London the same day and also slightly weird right-wing “By the people for the people” march on Parliament carrying a copy of the Magna Carta or something. Also there is a big march to mark the 3rd anniversary of the Syrian revolution.
