Oppose the neo-Nazi Jobbik party in London Sunday!

25 01 2014

This Sunday 26th anti-fascists are gathering in London to oppose Hungary’s neo-Fascist Jobbik party. The party’s leader Gábor Vona is planning a rally in London to rustle up votes from ex-pat Hungarians.

Jobbik are Europe’s most successful far-right party and are openly anti-Semitic and racist. Their London rally is nicely timed to be the day before Holocaust Memorial Day. Jobbik don’t go in for the kind of thinly veiled anti-semitism popular here in the UK – nope they’re straight out the 1930s – In November 2012, Marton Gyongyosi, the party’s deputy parliamentary leader, called for a security register of Hungarian Jewish legislators and ministers. Gyongyosi said: “I think such a conflict makes it timely to tally up people of Jewish ancestry who live here, especially in the Hungarian parliament.”

10 Days till Slough!

22 01 2014

It’s now only 10 days till the AFN demo against the EDL in Slough on Saturday 1st Feb.

Tell your friends and relatives. Organise yourself to get there and make sure that the EDL’s first demo of 2014 is also their last!

Things are moving rapidly. As mentioned in our report on recent actions in Lincoln and London the EDL seems to be fragmenting and whole divisions are defecting to a loose alliance of splinter groups (the Infidels, South East Alliance, Casuals etc.) So the EDL may be struggling for numbers in Slough. This is all the more reason for us to mobilise and to make sure we outnumber them and they have to scuttle out of Slough with their tail between their legs.

New resources for Slough demonstration

10 01 2014

AFN in co-ordination with Berkshire Anti-Fascists are calling for a mass mobilisation to Slough to oppose the EDL’s first national demo of 2014 on Saturday 1st February. The EDL hope to regain some momentum after another spectacular decline after losing Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carol. We stress that the EDL may have suffered over the last few months but they are still an active threat to diverse working class communities.

Bradford: come to fight fascism. Stay for the tea.

26 09 2013

come to fight fascism stay for the tea

The English Defence League have announced they plan to bring their hatred to Bradford’s streets on the 12th of October. A new group of anti-fascists has formed who are busy making plans to defend the city. Whether you are from from Bradford or coming from further afield to offer mutual aid, you are welcome to join Bradford Anti-Fascists in militant opposition to the EDL on our streets.

This is a national EDL demo and we know they see this city as the place to start the race war they so desire. They will turn out in numbers. On the 12th of October we must act together to show them that they are not wanted, not needed and not welcome in the city of Bradford.

The EDL have already scored an own goal as Bradford City’s schedule has had to be rejigged for their hate march. The police have asked Bradford City and Tranmere Rovers to change their proposed football match to the 11th of October amid fears supporters would be using the same transport as the English Defence League. The clubs have relented due to safety concerns for EDL members being surrounded by working class football supporters but fans are not happy:

Solidarity after Anti-Fascist murdered in Greece

20 09 2013

A little after midnight on Wednesday 17th September, 34 yr old anti-fascist Pavlos Fyssas was stabbed to death by uniformed neonazis from the Golden Dawn in Greece. The attack appeared to be a planned ambush and took place in sight of Greek police, who only intervened after the attack and after most of the fascists had dispersed. The attackers were well-known Golden Dawn members and this murder was only the latest in a campaign of violence which a few days ago saw a number of communist party members brutally assaulted and has been relentlessly directed at migrants.

Greeks and anti-fascists in London have called a solidarity demonstration at the Greek Embassy:

Saturday 21 September, 1pm
Greek Embassy, 1a Holland Park, London (Holland Park tube)

There have been demonstrations across Greece and internationally in response to the murder – updates on blog.occupiedlondon.org/
