Anti-Fascist Network statement on neo-Nazi demo Saturday 4th July 2015

Groups from the Anti-Fascist Network are joining with many others this Saturday to oppose neo-Nazis airing their anti-Semitic filth, with their talk of the ‘Jewification’ of Britain. We think it is vital to oppose fascism everywhere to stop hatred and oppression stifling the lives of all our communities.

Because of its virulent old-school Nazi politics this demonstration has received a lot of publicity. This is partly because it is so unusual. Although there has been a very worrying recent rise in anti-Semitic incidents in Britain, it is still almost unheard of for anti-Semites to attempt to organise openly and hold a public demonstration targetted at a large Jewish community in the area where they live.

Although this sort of openly neo-Nazi politics is rare and is recognised as utterly abhorrent, racism and far-right hate-mongering are unfortunately not at all rare in Britain in 2015.

Luton demo details for tomorrow

26 06 2015

luton-map

UPDATED FRIDAY 15.30

Anti-fascists from Luton UAF, Luton Anti-Fascists, members of the Anti-Fascist Network and other groups are meeting at the train station at 12.00: Facebook event

Britain First are meeting at the train station at 1pm. The planned route of their march is shown above.

At time of writing the leaders of Britain First are in the High Court disputing a police injunction banning them from Luton. It remains to be seen what will happen if the police are successful and they are banned from their demo. Watch our twitter feed for the latest info.

Anti-fascists should assume the fascist march will still go ahead.

The High Court has not supported the police’s attempt to get Britain First’s leaders banned from Luton. We can expect the fascist march tomorrow to go ahead as planned. Details of the anti-fascist mobilisation remain unchanged.

See you on the streets!

Join anti-fascists at Luton train station at 12 noon: Facebook event

This Saturday 27th, fascist BNP splinter group ‘Britain First’ are planning on marching through Luton, which apparently they think is a “mini-caliphate”. They aim to harass and intimidate the Muslim population of Luton and to whip up racial tensions in the town.

Luton UAF and the newly-formed Luton Anti-Fascists have both called counter-demonstrations. Members of the Anti-Fascist Network will also be attending. Join us on Saturday!

Oppose the far-right in Dudley on Saturday

12 06 2015

11401530_731376416973268_2753641117956087027_n

Meet 10.30am outside Dudley Council House, Priory Road, DY1 1HF

This Saturday 13th in Dudley there is an attempt to launch a new right-wing street movement. The awkwardly-named All Football Fans/Firms March Against Islamisation (AFFFMAI) appears to be an attempt to copy the emergence last year of the German HoGeSa (Hooligans Against Salafism), which itself was copying the EDL.

It seems unlikely that this will ‘break the mould’ of the far-right and far more likely that it will be all the same old faces under a different banner.

They shall not pass! Stop the White Man March in Liverpool

5 06 2015

Stop the White Man March

Facebook event

On Saturday 15th August, neo-Nazis will attempt to march through Liverpool. The so-called “White Man March” – this time on its second outing – is organised primarily by members of neo-Nazi youth group National Action. It is supported by neo-Nazi groups from across Europe.

In March this year, the first “White Man March” took place in Newcastle. Around 100 neo-Nazis marched through the city before burning gay, communist and Israeli flags, screaming “Hitler was right” and sieg-heiling at counter-protestors. Although small compared to other far right protests, this was the largest and most explicit neo-Nazi march to take place in the UK since the eighties.

Stop the EDL in Colchester – this Friday 22nd 10am

18 05 2015

11164763_1015174468493145_5454216024610354435_o

From Essex Anti-Fascists:

10 am
Colchester war memorial, Cowdray Crescent CO1 2PG

Facebook event

The English Defence League are returning to Colchester, once again using Lee Rigby’s tragic death to fuel their racist campaign, despite his family specifically asking for his death not to be exploited by such groups. This is not the first time the EDL have set upon Colchester, in previous years the fascists have ‘showed their respect’ by Sieg-Heiling at the war memorial.

Against neo-Nazi terror – this Sat 23rd in central London

18 05 2015

18614_1092236114123530_6384632520563140670_n

From London Anti-Fascists:

1pm Saturday 23 May
Outside the US Embassy, Grosvenor Square

Facebook event

David Lane was a founding member of American neo-Nazi terror group The Order. He died in 2007 serving a 150 year prison sentence for his neo-Nazi activities. When The Order murdered liberal Jewish talk show host Alan Berg, Lane was the getaway driver. Lane was also a member of the Ku Klux Klan and coined the infamous ’14 words’ slogan, popular on the far-right.

On Saturday 23 May neo-Nazis will gather outside the US embassy to pay their respects to this racist piece of shit. This will be the third neo-Nazi protest supporting terrorists to take place outside the US embassy in the past six months. We say enough is enough, fascist events in central London need to end.

EDL still trying to use Lee Rigby for their political gain

16 05 2015

Several branches of the EDL are planning events ‘in memorial’ of Lee Rigby, despite his family specifically asking for his death not to be exploited by such groups.

Essex Antifascists are organising against Colchester EDL’s march to the war memorial. Last year a small group of fascists stood awkwardly at the memorial whilst heckled by antifascists pointing out how disrespectful it is to use someone’s name for things they didn’t agree with.

Far right groups should not be tolerated demonstrating in any place, no matter what their excuse. Come to Colchester on the 22nd to make it clear! More details coming up.

Britain First upset Lee Rigby’s family by using the slogan ‘remember Lee Rigby‘ on their ballot paper entry in Wales. The Electoral Commission admitted it should not have allowed the far right party this slogan.
