Meet at the train station, Rochester, Kent, Sat Nov 1st. 12.30pm

Facebook event

As you may have gathered from the national media, a small political party called the United Kingdom Independence Party got its first MP recently by winning a by-election in Clacton. You may also have gathered that they are hoping to win another by-election on November 20th in Rochester and Strood.

Muddying the waters significantly are the widely-despised ex-BNP mosque-‘invading’ flat-cap wearing racists of Britain First, who are also running their deputy leader Jayda Fransen as a candidate on November 20th.

Britain First have become notorious for wearing uniforms like Poundland Moselyites, running ‘patrols’ of largely Muslim areas and ‘invading’ mosques as well as the shameless hawking of patriotic tat and exploiting the gullible to boost their social media profile through prolific use of ‘click-bait’ images. Their own founder admitted they were “overrun with racists and extremists.”

Anti-fascist action in Cardiff this Saturday 25th

22 10 2014

Also this Saturday 25th,  across the country from Rotherham in Cardiff, the ‘Welsh Alliance’ are holding a demo against all the usual things fascists don’t like – all Muslims, all mosques, all immigrants etc. The Welsh Alliance demo seems to be mostly being promoted by the English Volunteer Force who are apparently also speaking at the event. Having your protest against ‘Islamist terrorism’ addressed by people who think it’s smart to name themselves after a Loyalist terror group might not be the most obvious choice but that’s fascists for you!

Anti-fascists including South Wales Anti-Fascist Action will be there to oppose them.

Make plans now to get yourself out in Birmingham city centre next Saturday, to oppose the racist English Defence League. AFN groups from around the country are organising to go and confront the fascists.

We Are Birmingham have called for a counter demonstration at 11am in Victoria Square, backed by an anti racist unity statement signed by a huge range of unions, campaign groups, local celebrities and community groups. Birmingham Strong Justice 4 All have also called for a counter demonstration.

Last July the EDL had a drunken mob style demo in Birmingham city centre that has resulted in over 60 of them getting arrested, including many convicted of violent disorder.

Thursday 18th September marks one year since the death of Pavlos Fyssas – a Greek metal worker, anti-fascist and hip-hop artist who was knifed to death in the street in Athens by Golden Dawn neo-Nazis as police stood by and watched. His tragic death helped wake up the world to the danger of the Golden Dawn and Europe’s resurgent fascist movements.

Greek anti-fascist movements have called for this Thursday to be a Europe wide day of remembrance for Pavlos. There are events taking place across the continent on the 18th.

Why we must oppose the EDL in Colchester

22 08 2014

colchester

The last time the EDL had an event in Colchester was on the anniversary of the murder of Lee Rigby. They marched up to the war memorial where they found anti fascists waiting. With branded EDL flags and clothing, the far right group laid a wreath on the war memorial, ‘for’ Lee Rigby.
Lee Rigby’s family and colleagues have specifically stated they do not want groups like the EDL to use his murder to further their political aims. They say Lee Rigby would not have wanted his name to be used as an excuse to attack others. The EDL have consistently ignored this and continue to use the name and pictures of Lee Rigby as some kind of justification for their racism and prejudice.

Stop the EDL in Bournemouth

13 08 2014

Oppose the racist English Defence League in Bournemouth on 23rd August!

bmth

Once again this bizarre right-wing cult threatens one of the most peaceful and diverse communities in the south. Their proposed ‘Bournemouth against the Islamification of Britain’ march is a crude provocation to a section of the population that has been here since before most of them were born. They want to come and cause disharmony within our welcoming multicultural town and we will be there to “Say NO” to their unwelcome and unwanted racism.
