What does Dover Mean for Antifascists?

14 09 2015

There are already a lot of reports of what happened in Dover on Saturday knocking about, so we’ll keep ours short and sweet, and focus on the analysis. What does Dover mean for the Antifascist Movement in this country?

The day started with a 150-strong bloc of locals and AFN gathering in Pencester Gardens, forming up behind a large “Open the Borders” banner, and marching to occupy the fascists’ RV point at the Castle Inn.

Slough and Beyond

3 09 2015

September is shaping up to be a VERY busy month for Antifascists. There are going to be three (!) AFN actions, alongside several other non-AFN Antifascist demonstrations. The refugee crisis has pushed the far-right into a frenzy of activity and it is our social duty to combat them.

Nazis Sent Packing – as fash forced to hide in left luggage for their own safety

16 08 2015

Yesterday’s mobilisation against the neo-Nazi ‘White Man March’ in Liverpool was an outstanding victory for militant anti-fascism and an utter humiliation and total rout for National Action.

The neo-Nazis didn’t have a march, they didn’t have a rally, they didn’t even leave the train station.

They were lucky to escape without more injuries than they did and it was only by huddling behind a thin line of Liverpool cops that they were able to be finally evacuated and bundled into police vans and rushed out of the city.

They were forced to hide in a left luggage shop for their own protection as a huge crowd of anti-fascists jeered and heckled them and pelted them with water bottles, eggs, bananas, milk, orange juice and sundry other grocery products.

Fascists try to attack migrant solidarity demo in Folkestone

3 08 2015
folkestone

Britain First’s Steve Lewis meets the long arm of the law…

Prompted by the death of a 13 year old boy in the Channel Tunnel. Folkestone United called a demo in solidarity with the Calais migrants on Saturday calling for “no more tunnel deaths”.

Fascists from Britain First and the EDL both decided to turn up to oppose it. That’s right – they were opposing people who thought children dying in the Channel Tunnel was a bad thing. Because they only oppose militant Islam remember?

Britain First members tried (and failed) to physically attack the Folkestone United demonstration.

Stop the ‘White Man March’ UPDATE!

28 07 2015

11693856_543769332438804_6236188256322524938_nUPDATED 02/08/15

This is the latest from the mobilisation to stop the neo-Nazi ‘White Man March’ in Liverpool on August 15th.

It is now only 2 weeks until the day. We want as many people as possible to join us on the streets on the 15th, with as much energy as possible to stop their openly anti-Semitic, homophobic and racist march in its tracks.

Liverpool has a proud anti-fascist history and it is totally unacceptable that Nazis think they can use the city as a base or stronghold from which to spread their poison.

Anti-Fascists take to the streets this Saturday: Lincoln and Wakefield

Anti-fascists in Lincoln march against the far-right last year

Wakefield: 10.30am, Cathedral Steps

Lincoln: 12.00, top of Lincoln High St

As the far-right continues to simultaneously fragment and become more dangerous and extreme, anti-fascists are increasingly facing multiple far-right marches happening at the same time.

Rather than one occasional EDL demo of several hundred people we are now often seeing multiple smaller marches from across the spectrum of racist hatred, making it harder to keep tabs on them all.

This weekend, as well as it being the international day of solidarity with anti-fascist prisoners (see our previous post), there are anti-fascist mobilisations against the EDL in Lincoln and against the Nazi National Front in Wakefield.
